Our Mission
The mission of Olmsted Outreach is to reach out to the
Rochester and greater Olmsted County communities with
the love of Jesus Christ to meet people's physical, social,
emotional, educational and spiritual needs.
Olmsted Outreach is a Minnesota non-profit corporation
and a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue code.
Olmsted Outreach, as a non-profit corporation and a public
charity, helps its members until they are ready to function
on their own. The members are helped with general liability
insurance, financial services and consultation, and required
government reporting. Donations can be designated through
regular United Way giving and as a public charity all
contributions to Olmsted Outreach are tax deductible (some
employers may match donations).
How does it work?
- Every program must have an advisory committee
- a group of people who meet together to plan,
to provide direction to the program director
and to carry out the day-to-day mission of
your program.
- All business transactions must conform to state and federal
requirements of a not-for-profit corporation.
- Your day-to-day expenses will be paid out of a checking account.
There are varying systems and our goal is to work with you,
however, generally we will give a set amount of cash and when
that money is depleted, turn in your receipts and we will reimburse
you for your expenses. Expenses for telephone, mileage, etc.
will be reimbursed once per month when an expense report is
submitted. Payment for expenses can be reimbursed by the next
business day. This process will allow us to meet our tax reporting
requirements as a not-for-profit corporation.
- Paychex will handle all payroll. Checks will be issued monthly.
If it falls on a holiday or a weekend, checks will be issued
the last business day before the holiday or weekend.
- All donations must be receipted through Olmsted Outreach and
deposited to the Olmsted Outreach checking account. You can
write the receipt yourself (more power to you) or we will. For
gifts in kind, you may give a receipt describing the gift but
it is the donor's responsibility to assign a value. It is important
to keep in mind that a donation is only a donation if no goods
and/or services were given other than intangible benefits.
- Your expenses will need to be turned in by the 10th of the
month for the monthly board meeting. Also
on the 10th of the month, please provide the
board representative with a monthly update
on your program.
